Privacy Policy

Shared Savings ("we", "our", "the app") is a free tool that helps households track their money together. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Shared Savings you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account details — your email address and a password (stored in an encrypted, hashed form), used to sign you in and to reset your password.
• The information you enter — the expenses, income, bills, savings goals, debts, budgets, household name, and member names you add to the app. You control what you enter; you never have to add anything you don't want to.
• Technical information at sign-up — your approximate IP address and browser type, used only to protect accounts from abuse and fraud.
• Notification details — if you turn on reminders, we store the technical subscription needed to send you a notification. You can turn this off at any time.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not connect to your bank, card, or any financial institution.
• We do not ask for or store your bank credentials, card numbers, or account balances from any bank.
• We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your information

• To provide the app and keep your household's data available across your devices.
• To send the reminders and summaries you opt into (bill reminders, a weekly summary, check-ins).
• To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.
• To respond to messages you send us through the app.

Sharing within your household

Shared Savings is built for households. If you invite others to your household, the entries and totals in that household are visible to its members. Only people with your household's invite code can join. Different households cannot see each other's data.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the app — for example, a hosting provider and an email delivery service to send reminders and password resets. They process data only to provide these services to us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

How your data is stored and protected

• Your data is stored on secured servers.
• Passwords are stored using one-way hashing — we cannot see your password.
• The app is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

Cookies and local storage

We use your device's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices and rights

• You can view and edit your data at any time inside the app.
• You can turn notifications on or off at any time.
• You can request that your account and its data be deleted by contacting us at the address below.

Children

Shared Savings is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date above.
